6th-9th Grade.  Three Billy Goats Gruff and Other Fairy Tales for the Very Young by Ric Averill Jennifer Glenn Ric Averill’s zany fairy tales include The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Mr. & Mrs. Vinegar and, of course, The Three Billy Goat’s Gruff. The show is primarily for the preschool through 2nd grade audience. Everyone will be cast.

Puppet Camp

Lawrence Arts Center

K-3rd grade.  Put your prettiest puppet foot forward! Join KU’s best known puppeteer, Spencer Lott, to create puppets and put together a show by the end of the week. Students will keep the simple puppets they make after showing them off during Friday afternoon’s performance. Some puppets may be used by other camps. Bring a lunch!

School's Out, Theatre's In; "What a Knight! -- Camelot's Craziest Quest!"

Broadway Bound! Musical Camp

3rd-8th grade.  Join talented director Shannon Draper-Gard and her musical colleague Ryan McCall as they collaborate with YOU to write and produce a musical in only a week! You pick the topic, make up the melodies and bring it all to life by the Friday afternoon performance. May use some puppetry. Bring a lunch!

Film Camp

Lawrence Arts Center

7th-12th grade.  Jeff and Christie and the LAC staff, in conjunction with GaDuGi SafeCenter, will be exploring the nuts and bolts of filmmaking, using the daily life of the teen participants as material to create a short film in a week. Bring your most creative ideas to this great practicum for young filmmakers. May use some puppetry and film other groups. The finished video will be available by Mar 27. Bring a lunch!

Make Your Own Movie

Lawrence Arts Center

3rd-8th Grade.  Plan, write, direct and act in your own movie. The class will work together to choose the subject matter and create a short movie. DVDs available within two weeks of conclusion of class. Some students may choose to also take editing class and work on post-production of the movie.

Summer Youth Theatre: Musical Theatre Audition Prep Class

Lawrence Arts Center

7th-12th Grade.  This three-week class is designed to help students get ready for the SYT season and prepare their auditions. Students will look at song selections and monologues and gain an overview of the works being done during the summer. Non-musical students may concentrate on the acting component.
