Family-based Sexuality Education
This 5-week course for 5th and 6th graders helps parents be the primary sexuality educators for their children. The course begins with a “parents only” night to provide information and answer questions. A parent attends each of the following four sessions with the child. A comprehensive, decision-making model of sexuality education is used. Teachers are registered nurses and social workers. Offered by Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. Our entertaining, interactive programs for children ages 5-14 combine art education with hands-on creation. Each week, students explore selected art works in the museum and make their own art based on the techniques, media and traditions they discover. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Ages 5-8 years old meet 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. and ages 9-14 years old meet 1:30-3:30 p.m. Classes are $12*/$10 for Friends of the Art Museum children.
Journey to the world of the Prairie Printmakers. Look at images of the Great Plains and create your own multimedia print using different textures and printing processes.

Puppet Camp

K-3rd grade. Put your prettiest puppet foot forward! Join KU’s best known puppeteer, Spencer Lott, to create puppets and put together a show by the end of the week. Students will keep the simple puppets they make after showing them off during Friday afternoon’s performance. Some puppets may be used by other camps. Bring a lunch!

Monsters in the Mix?
Spencer Museum of Art, KU
Our entertaining, interactive programs for children ages 5-14 combine art education with hands-on creation. Each week, students explore selected art works in the museum and make their own art based on the techniques, media and traditions they discover. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Ages 5-8 years old meet 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. and ages 9-14 years old meet 1:30-3:30 p.m. Classes are $12*/$10 for Friends of the Art Museum children.
Hunt for images of the gory and the grotesque in ancient and medieval art. Use natural materials and found objects to create your own hairy, scary, monstrous mask.
