Meadowlark Music Together
Fun family-style music and movement classes for newborns through Kindregarten age children and their parents or caregivers. Two locations, daytime and evening classes. Family-based Sexuality Education
This 5-week course for 5th and 6th graders helps parents be the primary sexuality educators for their children. The course begins with a “parents only” night to provide information and answer questions. A parent attends each of the following four sessions with the child. A comprehensive, decision-making model of sexuality education is used. Teachers are registered nurses and social workers. Offered by Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. These free inspections are sponsored by the Sake Kids of Douglas County Coalition. Call Connect Care at (785) 749-5800 for more information. In addition to the check lanes listed below, appointments can be made at designated times each month. Please have your child’s safety seat already installed upon arrival, and then it will be inspected and adjusted if needed.
Becoming a Love and Logic Parent® Basic Class

The Becoming a Love and Logic Parent® course is available to take to parent groups (minimum of 5 parents) such as churches, schools or daycare PTA’s. This program is a nationally recognized commonsense parenting approach that teaches parents the skills to cultivate confidence and good decision-making in children, age 18 months+. Early Childhood Parenting Made Fun®
Lawrence Memorial Hospital Community Education
When parents start using the Love and Logic® principles early in their children’s lives, they up the odds that the teenage years will be fun instead of frantic. This program focuses on parenting skills to use with children from birth to age six. Topics include offering choices, showing empathy and respect, and avoiding parenting by anger, threats, warnings or lectures. $15/parent or caregiver and $20 for two parents from the same family. Build Your Village – a Postpartum Adjustment Support Group
Free peer support and caring group for new moms experiencing postpartum adjustment difficulties. Facilitated by an RN trained by Postpartum Support International and The Postpartum Resource Center of Kansas. Meets some Mondays from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in eight week sessions; however, women may join the group at anytime Newborns welcome. For more information, contact (785) 505-3081.
